Torsgatan – BK4 reinforcement with 56% lower climate impact

Torsgatan – BK4 förstärkning med 56 % lägre klimatpåverkan

Has completed Reinforcement and reconstruction of approximately two kilometres of road to BK4 standard on Torsgatan in Skellefteå. The project was carried out in close collaboration with the client and encompassed several central parts of the urban environment.

The work consisted of, among other things:

Reinforcement of road for BK4 traffic
Construction and refurbishment of bus stops
Traffic management and accessibility solutions during construction
Collaborative design and construction of a new roundabout
Material management, paving works and completion in urban environments

The project was implemented with high demands on accessibility, traffic safety and coordination – while minimising the impact on residents and traffic.

Cutting-edge sustainability
Alongside the technical implementation, structured climate work was conducted from tender to completion. The actual outcome was 374,344 kg of CO₂, which corresponds to a climate reduction of just over 56%% compared to the original climate calculation. The project thus achieved a leading level in sustainability classification for construction projects.

Result
Torsgatan is today a future-proofed and robust traffic solution adapted for heavy traffic, public transport, and the city's development. The project shows how technically complex infrastructure measures can be implemented efficiently, with high quality, and a clear focus on sustainability.
